Chest-supported row muscles are the muscles that are used when performing a chest-supported row. This exercise is used to target the muscles in the back and shoulder. The primary muscle targeted is the latissimus dorsi, but other muscles such as the trapezius, rhomboid, and deltoids are also worked.

The biceps and pectoralis muscles are also used depending on how you perform the exercise. The latissimus dorsi is targeted here and it worked because of its function which involves side abduction to lower or raise your arm. The trapezius is also worked but mostly in the middle of the movement where you are pulling up or resisting gravity. The bar should be gripped with a wider than shoulder-width grip and your arms should be slightly bent at the elbows before beginning the motion. The chair should be pushed down and the arms should be stretched out. The chest-supported row can either be done leaning over or sitting down, you must maintain correct form throughout this exercise because otherwise, it may cause injury.

Causes of Chest Supported Row Injuries

A hernia could result if the chair used for a chest-supported row was not stable. If done incorrectly, it leads to lower back injuries because the person may arch their back while pulling up or down leading to over usage of the muscles in that area. It also puts a lot of pressure on your arms and wrists if you grip the bar too tightly which could cause pain there as well.

Possible Treatments For Injury

It is possible to treat injuries associated with the chest-supported row. For lower back injuries, performing other exercises that don’t involve the lower region of the body can help until you are ready to come back to this exercise. Precautions

Before beginning a chest-supported row, you should stretch your arms and back against the pad to ensure that your range of motion is not impeded before beginning the exercise. This will also help you get a feel for the movement and how it’s done. These are all precautions that should be taken when performing the chest-supported row.
